Sunshine State School

The school was formerly known as the Braybrook South or Braybrook Junction.
Miss E. I. Epsie first applied to have a state school established in the area in 1890.
The first school opened at the Morris St site in 1891. Due to the attendance at the school nearly doubling the school, later in the same year, was transferred the Braybrook Public Hall on the north - east corner of Hampshire Rd & Benjamin St.
In 1892 a new site was selected in Derby Rd and the school once again moved to the newer site.
In 1909 the school was once again at capacity. In 1911 this was solved by adding three wooden class rooms. A swimming pool was later added on the school grounds in 1914 -1915.
The school struggled with overcrowding for the next 20 plus years before the new building facing Hampshire Rd being approved by the Education Department. This building was located on the former site of Sunshine's first post office which was being occupied by the caretaker of the Technical School.
