The Keilor Road District was gazetted on the 3rd March 1863 and became in 1871. The City of Keilor was proclaimed as a city on the 29th April 1961. It was abolished on the 15th December 1994 and the area divided between two new cities. The eastern section merged with the City of Essendon and became the City of Moonee Valley and the western & southern sections merged with the City of Sunshine and became the City of Brimbank.
