72 - 98 Hampshire Rd Sunshine

In the first part of the 1900's this local shopping strip started to trade. Throughout the years it had seen hairdresser, fruiters, grocers, confectioners, news agents, fish mongers and tobacconists trade from these shops.

​

In 1960, the shop at number 72 (Out of picture to the right) was Ted Whitten's Foodland shop. One year prior to Christmas he promised to personally delivery any pre-ordered hams & poultry. This shop is now demolished and is part of the service station.

​

The shops in 2006 included the Tastee Treats Cafe & Milk Bar, Coin Laundry, Fish & Chips and coming soon a Piercing Studio.

​

The former timber yard north of the shops has been demolished and has been replaced with the current complex of townhouses.

​

Recently the shops at number 88 & 90 were damaged by fire and have been demolished.
